The Singapore Ministry of Defence (MINDEF) and the United States Department of War’s Capability Development and Integration (CD&I) have launched a Joint Defence Innovation Challenge to strengthen maritime safety in congested sea lanes and port approaches.

This challenge seeks breakthrough solutions for the rapid detection and mitigation of hazards that threaten vessels, port operations, and coastal infrastructure. Start-ups, companies, and academia are invited to propose solutions that address this need.

Enabled through the Cap Vista Accelerator, the initiative offers innovators a streamlined entry point to collaborate with defence establishments from both countries. Project trials will be supported by the Defence Science and Technology Agency (DSTA), with solutions validated under realistic operational conditions.

This Joint Challenge reflects the continued commitment of Singapore and the United States to advance defence innovation and safeguard global maritime trade routes.

Awardees will gain the opportunity to work directly with end users to showcase and validate their solutions for national security applications. Challenge winner(s) may also qualify for a contract to further demonstrate their technology and rapidly scale deployment, if the trial shows strong success and potential.
