Energy Joint Challenge

Inviting academic and industry partners to address challenges in early detection of Lithium-ion battery anomalies and containment of thermal runaway.

Cap Vista Accelerator

Cap Vista seeks innovative solutions to address challenges published on this website. We focus on accelerating the adoption of commercial technologies to solve real challenges at speed.

This bilateral joint challenge is a collaborative initiative brought to you by Singapore's Ministry of Defence (MINDEF), executed by Cap Vista, and France's Agence de l'innovation de défense to seek novel solutions for early detection of Lithium-ion battery anomalies and containment of thermal runaway.

This is an opportunity for companies, startups and academia to collaborate with defence establishments to translate innovative proposals into project trials.

We aim to award suitable providers in April 2026, with both industry and academia recognised simultaneously to harness diverse strengths across the ecosystem. Successful providers will be invited to a demonstration showcase in September 2026.

Awardees will have the opportunity to work directly with end users to showcase and validate their solutions for national security applications. If the solutions demonstrate success and good potential, we aim to scale them quickly.

Instructions - Overview of Challenge Statements:

  • Each challenge card has a “Learn more” button. Clicking it opens a pop-up with more information.

  • Every pop-up (modal) has a name (called an ID) and is located in a separate block below the cards.

  • To make the button open the correct pop-up:

    • Look at the “Learn more” button on the card.

    • Find data-target="#..." on the button.

    • The part inside the quotation marks (for example, #challengestatement_one) must exactly match the pop-up’s ID below.

  • To update the content:

    • Scroll down to the pop-up section.

    • Find the pop-up with the matching ID.

    • Edit the text inside it.

  • Reminder:

    • Don’t change the data-target on the button unless you are linking it to a different pop-up.

    • Always make sure the button’s data-target and the pop-up’s ID match exactly.
